Charles Asch is working on his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota, with completion expected in Spring 2015. He enjoys performing in chamber ensembles, performing solo cello works, and creating cello pedagogy materials. Recent performances have included the Solo Sonata by George Crumb at Zeitgeist’s George Crumb Festival in St. Paul, a series of six Bach Suites for the Lenten Compline Services at St. John the Evangelist in St. Paul, and a chamber recital featuring the Sonata for Violin and Cello by Ravel, as well as works by Roussel and Brahms. Charles completed his Master of Music degree at Juilliard in 2009, where he studied with Richard Aaron and Fred Sherry. While in New York, he participated in the premieres of new works, and performed in collaborations between dance and music. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, with majors in German Literature and Music Performance.
