Charles Asch has completed two years of study for his Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Minnesota Twin –Cities, where he studies with Tanya Remenikova. He enjoys solo and chamber recitals, including a recent concerto performance with the Concord Chamber Orchestra, a doctoral recital including Benjamin Britten’s second unaccompanied cello suite, as well as a solo recital at the Villa Terrace Art Museum of Milwaukee, which included unaccompanied Bach Suites, showtunes by Fritz Kreisler, folk songs, and jazz arrangements. Originally from Milwaukee WI, Charles went on to earn his Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, where studied with Hans Jorgen Jensen. While in Chicago, he was the winner of the Chicago Union League Civic and Arts Foundation Solo Competition as well the Northwestern University Concerto Competition. He earned his Master of Music degree at Juilliard, studying with Richard Aaron and Fred Sherry. Charles has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Recently, Charles went on a tour of the Northwoods area of Minnesota, to the Bemidji area, as an “Artistic Ambassador”, sponsored by the Minnesota Music Teachers Association.
