Volunteer - Lakes Area Chamber Music Festival

Volunteer

Musician housing for both professional musicians and students is a large volunteer component of this festival. Professional musicians have generally been provided guest house or resort lodging, with private space for rehearsing. Student musicians have been housed in private homes, with breakfasts included. Housing on a lake or in the Brainerd area is preferred. If you can offer space for any part of July 28 through August 18th, 2013, please let us know. You may email Sue Johnson, Executive Director at: lamfsue@gmail.com.

Rehearsal lunch preparation and hosting has been a positive, welcoming aspect of the LAMF. A lunch is served at each rehearsal. Meals are either purchased ( deli, restaurant order) or homemade and served during the mid-day rehearsal break. This year, most rehearsal lunches will be served at the First Presbyterian Church a short walk from our primarily concert and rehearsal site, Tornstrom Auditorium. With the anticipated larger number of festival musicians, several hosts will be needed for many of these lunches. You can volunteer for a specific date, volunteer for several dates, contribute for specific items, offer financial assistance, etc. This is a wonderful way to meet some of the artists, perhaps sit in on part of a rehearsal and be part of “Minnesota Nice.”

Transportation help for student musicians is needed from the Minneapolis- St Paul airport and while students are in the Brainerd lakes area. If you have an available car that could be used by festival artists, be willing to make a run to the Cities for a specific pickup, or would be willing to contribute toward mileage, help would be appreciated.

Evening meals have been offered to our student musicians. Coupons to a restaurant, an informal dinner at your house, a meal at your favorite restaurant, supper by the lake or on a pontoon boat are all part of the options.

Donor-musician reception assistance will be needed Thursday,  August 16th. You would be contacted to perhaps prepare an appetizer or dessert, assist the hosts with preparation (and clean-up)

Organizational planning if you are proficient in web design, graphics design, promotions, marketing, grant-writing, and organization building.
